This thermo-treated pine wood sauna cushion is ideal for lying on in the sauna.

Thermo wood (or Thermowood) is wood that has been preserved through a natural heat treatment with steam (between 180°C and 230°C). This process changes the cell structure of the wood, causing it to absorb less moisture and making it resistant to rot and fungi. It is an ecological alternative to tropical hardwood.

Key features

• Durability: The treatment increases the durability class (often to class I or II), allowing the wood to last up to 25 to 30 years.

• Dimensional stability: Because the moisture content has been permanently reduced, the wood hardly shrinks or swells anymore (“the wood no longer moves”).

• Environmentally friendly: No chemicals are used, only heat and steam. As a result, the wood is fully recyclable.

• Lightweight: Due to the low moisture content, the wood is significantly lighter, which facilitates installation (for example, on a facade).

• Appearance: The wood develops a warm, dark brown color. Without treatment, it will gray evenly to a silver tint over time.
